Infantry camp finds and whatzits

Just returned from a fun hunt where I picked up a shoe box full of minies and musket balls and a nice assortment of brass camp items, including about a dozen eagle buttons, some scabbord, sword, and belt stuff. Can anybody tell me what this cap-like relic is that looks like it might have been for the end of the soldiers' rifles: made of brass, exactly the diameter of the minie balls I found with em, has a small circular hole at the end. I know that's not a lot of information, but I'm hoping one of you relic hunters will recognize it right away (sorry but I still can't get my scanner to work, so I can't post a pic). I think it must be a common find since I found three of 'em at this particular camp ('64-'65), and I've found another one at a cavalry camp site. Thanks for any help, and hope your next hunt is a great one too. Kevin
