MY buddy and I were detecting at a site today that has produce war of 1812 stuff he found a piece of grape shot and what I thought was a four pounder cannon ball.He took it to the fort in town to see if they could id it.They told him it was a live gernade or mortar from the war of 1812 and that he should turn it over to the police which he didn't. The ball was pretty covered with rust on the one side so it could be true but I did not think they had these during the war of 1812 is there a safe way to disarm and are they worth anything. If you shake the ball you can here something inside . ThankYou Rick
