well I eyeballed a MM#351 dropped US three ringer in about 1961 when I was 8. I got a $19.95 Treasure Probe BFO/VCO detector from a comic book and went detecting. The first thing I dug was a gun barrel that blew off, later dug a perfect bayonet with that detector as well as US buttons.
I still have all the relics and detector.
And the detector still works.
