Should I cut into this relic to expose the bullet or leave it alone?

I dug a nice bullet in wood a while back. The bullet is totally encased in wood with only the tip showing. The piece is about 6 inches long. Not sure whether I should cut the wood to expose the bullet or not. Any advise is appreciated.
