they were dropped.The enfield didn't have the wooden plug but you can make out the 57 in the base.I was lucky a plow hadn't trashed it in the 137 years it has been laying there.I've only found 3 enfields but have made up for it in round balls.We have 1 field that only produces round balls and state seal and letter/eagle buttons.In fact I found a coat size eagle v there.I hope to post a picture of it soon.Good luck!Jimmy
