I have a 12" hot head coil that came with my spectrum. If I use it in coin or jewelry/beach mode it works if the pre-amp gain is set low(less than 4). Any other time it is very erratic. I tried it with a friend's xlt and it worked about the same, maybe a little better. I wanted to get the most depth out of my spectrum for relic hunting. My question is this normal for hot head coils or is mine bad?
