I have a 12" Hot Head coil for my Compass and it works fine at high sens. levels. But for my XLT I use the Whites 1500--15" coil I don't have any problems with it. I usually run Gain on 6, sometimes higher, depending on the ground mineralization. But you cant go higher than preset on the AC sens., usually a little lower. Try some different areas and settings and see what happens. If the coil is bad it usually will give you problems no matter what the settings are, even in mid-air sometimes. Good luck and Good Hunting ---Dig'n---
