However, our first machine was a Radio Shack Discovery 1000. It has found Liberty dimes at 4 inches deep as well as lots of junk. We then bought a Discovery 3000 (which I still use) and in my opinion it can keep up with my wifes Whites Classic IDX SL (which is our 3rd machine!) We have found silver coins, military buttons etc... with both machines.Best bit of advise though is try the machine you have and if you enjoy the hobby (don't get discouraged) next machine you buy get the best you can afford. If you get discouraged with your current machine, find a dealer and ask them to take you out and show you what their machine can do. Welcome to a great exciting hobby
