Stans advice on finding trash pits is good. I have been doing this for years in Hawaii and have a huge collection of Hawaiian blown bottles. I am now looking for a metal detector which will help locate the kind of thing you are looking for. Please share any information you might find and I will do the same. Who knows, maybe we could trade some bottles. Thanks.
