Hello,
I found a button recently, and I have been told it is a reproduction of an 1836 Texas Navy button.
The front says "Republic of Texas," with a slanting anchor and star, and the back says "Scovill MF'G Co" across the top and "Waterbury" across the bottom.
I was told the backmark is not an 1836 backmark, so it's not authentic.
Can I find out when the buttons were reproduced, so I would have an idea of how old the button I found might be.
Is there any way to find out exactly how old the button is?
Thanks.
