Early Spanish Fleet

A long time ago, I read a book by Richard Winer titled "The Devil's Triangle", that great, mostly hokey, place where space aliens and such masquerade as ex-Brooklyn Dodgers and cause ships and planes to disappear. There is a chapter in the book that details the sinking of an early-Spanish treasure fleet around 1502 during a hurricane, which was under the command of an admiral named Bobadilla, also noted as the man who sent Columbus back to Spain in chains. Part of the cargo was a gold table weighing over 1,300 pounds. Since this comes from a book which is more fake than fact, even though the story has not a shread of mystery to it, I have to take it with a grain of salt. So, is there anyone out there with factual info as to the real Bobadilla and his fleet? UFO's not included!
