Late 18th Cent. African Shipwreck info required

I am seeking any and all information on a wreck with a literary connection. In his memoirs, Arthur Conan Doyle refers to the wreck of an Indiaman, which took place in 1782 on a lonely part of the South African coast. Thank you, Frank Rizzo.
