cutting underwater with acetelene...

June 02, 1999 at 04:40:25

Wondering what type of equipment is used, different gas / oxygen mixtures etc.

Are there general limits to the thickness it can cut. On dry land the steel has to be "red" before the oxygen can blow it away, this must be much more difficult to do when it it emmersed in cold water.

In 20 or so yrs.of diving and reading about it, I've never seen any articles or books on either cutting or welding - Seems strange considering the coverage that shipwrecks get in most diving literature.

Any thoughts would be appreciated...

regards wilson
