An X above the trirangle and Cross
February 09, 1998 at 10:49:57I went back out to my site I mentioned in my previous post and reexamined the cliffside looking for additional symbols. Faintly, above the cross with a triangle about afoot is an X with hands. In other words, at the top of the X are horizontal lines that connect to the slanted lines going to the right and the left. There are no lines on the inside of the X that would make this an overline rather than an underline.
The reason I say this is an X with hands is that an X with feet have horizontal lines going out from the bottom of the X as depicted in some books. I have never seen an X with hands before.
If anyone has an idea of what this means, I would appreciate any help.
For those of you who E-mailed me previously, it looks like we all agree on the same answer for the Triangle and cross. In my search on Saturday, I found another one just like the other one about ten feet to the right. Any idea why there would be two of them?
For those of you who are interested, this site looks like it was an ambush. The party apparently had time to bury a treasure, but in all likelyhood was destroyed with no one escaping. The reason I say this is that I stumbled on the site by accident, and from having done research in the area previously, there are no stories relating to this site.
To the right of these signs, there is a number one with no feet or flag at the top. I have an idea what this means, but I would like some other thoughts before I go back out to this site again.
Sure appreciate the help and the ideas!
Tom
