by 1722 the spanish had a well established a route following part of the camino real to a mission near natchitoches louisianna on the red river. by 1768, the spanish governor of new spain had all but given up on trade routes and the mission system in tejas. the areas east of the red river in the mississippi basin were subject to french claim even after the french threat was eliminated friendly indians had abandoned the missions and the unfriendlies (apaches) were making travel impossible except unlong extreme southern route near the texas coast. it not impossible i suppose but i have found no reference to spanish expeditions in kentucky in any of my sources. see works by william c foster, carlos e. castenada, and the spanish frontier in north america by david j. weber. it could be you have found something related to earlier expeditions from florida
