Sanders Lost Mine
May 10, 1998 at 09:28:20

Any of you ever checked the 1878-1880 army records of fort apache correspondence or roles to confirm the existence of Sanders and the incident of the patrol chasing cow thieves which led (according to the tale) to Sanders finding the quartz/gold dyke on Coon Creek in Gila County, AZ? I'd be interested in types and dates of the documents, file numbers in the National Archives, that sort of thing. Or anything you might have picked up from original sources or pre-1900s newspaper articles. Thanks, Jack
