Jake, my information tells me that Ressler was indeed one of the Hole-in-the-wall gang. However, his earlier life seems to be cloudy before he arrived at Kokoweef in the Mohave. He made his camp near that of Earl Dorr, who was one of the founders of the infamous "underground river of gold". I understand that Ressler and Dorr were not too friendly towards each other, but gold does that to people. I have been to Ressler's camp, and quite a few artifacts were found there. Several old coins, some .44 shot that had not been fastened to the shells, and cooking utensils. Some of the bedding was still there as well. About 40 miles from this site is an area known as Hole-in-the Wall. I think it is located in the New York Mtns. in the Mohave. Maybe someone has history on this? ( I don't think there is a connection, who knows) Bill
