this is about the most frustrating undertaking

I ever undertook

Spent the weekend out in the mountain zigzagging across the face. I keep finding the eye symbols chiselled deeply into the rock faces, usually around quartz outcrops, incorporating the quartz into the eyes. Most are relatively small and are approximately 6-8 inches wide and 4 inches high. One has a line underneath and the ear shaped figure connected on the left side with the end pointing downward which both Carson and Shaffer say mean gold is nearby...the line under the eye repeats the ear shaped figure on the eye with a line underneath. On the next rock to the left is a large figure "7" Three of these eyes are repeated in a radius of about 100 feet, with the largest one being close to the ground and about 18 inches across and 12 inches high. That one is pretty well hidden to the point that I've walked past several times without seeing it before.

down canyon, facing up to the eyes, about 1/4 mile away is a rock with <<<0 chiselled on the face. the "0" is a cylindrical quartz vein exposed bas-relief style. From 30-40 feet away it appears as an eye, as well. Further downcanyon is a larger rock with < located just upstream from the confluence of two canyons, with the arrow (?) pointed toward the branch which leads downcanyon toward where the rock on the map was located, and further downstream, the cabin ruin and sluicebox.

The rock on the map indicates with a dimpled mark, the location of the eyes I just described.

At that point things seem t have come to a dead stop.

A couple of weeks ago I found the most recent eye, the big one, but it seems this guy really liked to chisel eyes on rocks. This makes between a half dozen and a dozen, not all identical, but frequently they use quartz veins for an iris, all are deeply cut, (on one occasion I was cleaning lichen out of the depression around the eyeball and it came out in my hand, about the size of a baseball).

All the eyes I've found thus far are in locations i
