Hi gents.

Just got back in from two weeks on the mountain a little while ago. Buffalo gnats were thick on and off this trip, depending on the wind, and my face, arms, and legs are swollen with bites.

We spent most of the two weeks trying to chase down the spanish symbols on two different ridges which I've described to you in the past. The symbols are mostly in clusters in two places. I'm led to suspect there were probably a lot more symbols on trees in the distant past, which have been destroyed by fires and the like.

The finds on this trip were limited. On one slope off a nearby ridge we found a symbol which was probably 6 inches in diameter cut deeply into the face of a rock. It's a circle with a hole in the middle.

75 feet upslope is a large X chiselled into a rock slightly leaning left of vertical with an 0 nestled into the V of the upper part of the X

On a killer slope which I haven't worked before 1/2 mile away there is a shallow depression several hundred feet below the top with a shallow tailings pile on the downslope side.

I intended to work the tailings pile, but the climb was strenuous enough to keep me from it.

Guess there's always a next time.

best wishes, Jack
