A lot of peole think that Karl von Mueller made up the LUE map, I ended up with a lot of corrispondence letters and research from a person who wrote for one of the treasure magazines, the majority of this information was on the Beale treasure and the LUE map. out of this information was several letters from Karl Von Mueller that he had written to the author and other people around the country. Some of the things he stated was that he did not make the LUE map up he said he did touch up some of the lines that would not reproduce well, and made some of the fine lines heavier so that they would show up good when he reproduced it in his book "Treasure hunters manual #7" he said he made up the word LUE and that he got it from using the first alphabet of each word that was crudley scribbled onto the original map, the three words were (Lloro, Urraca and Enterrari) I dont know what these words mean maybe someone could clue us in. I think if it would have had the peralta name on it he would have said so. One thing Karl does say to prove his inosence that he did not make the LUE map up, is that this map can be found in several books and historical quarterlies that date back 75 years ago, long before he published it in the early seventies, one of the many places he says it can be found is in a book by the daughters of the Utah pioneer's I havent searched for this information because I believe Richard Walburn has done enough research on the subject to know what he is talking about, and he says its in New mexico, so does most of the other people that corrisponded with the treasure magazine (these corrispondences are now in my posesion) If anyone does happen to find the source in the Daughters of the Utah pioneers concerning the LUE map please let me know I would be interested in seeing what it looks like, Karl said it didnt say anything about it just had a picture of it.Terry Carter
