Redding,Calif mini treasure

Looking for information concerning an incident that happened in Redding somewhere aroung 1894/95. An old miser type miner was having a few drinks in town and was followed home by two men who killed him when he refused to tell them where his treasure was. The treasure is somewhere near the intersection of South and East street. Any information would help Thanks JimNM
