Jim you might try checking back files of the local newspapers, surely a murder and the location of it would have been reported. This should give you the names of the parties involved, with which you can do a follow up on what became of these individuals afterwords. It should also list adresses, which you can use to check on tax roles, county clerk files, county recorder, to find when, how, of if the property was dispensed with or renovated. hope this gives you some research ideas.
