Kidd-Palmer Treasure Charts!!?
June 27, 1999 at 13:48:01

ref; capt. kidds charts? the charts in question came to light in the early 1930s, they came to be known as the kidd-palmer charts(palmer was the collector of kidd artefacts, who supposedly found the charts hidden in items of furniture linked to kidd). Q. did palmer find the charts as he claimed? Q. were the items of furniture owned by kidd? Q. are the charts fictitious? Q. could the charts be authentic? Q. did kidd draw the charts? Q. were they drawn by another pirate? Q. were the charts drawn to sell to some gullible fool? probably!

Unfortunately i dont know the ANSWERS to the above questions. however i am one of the gullible fools taken in by the kidd-palmer charts, which has resulted in my study of them over the past ten years.

SUMMARY; i have studied three of the (K-p) charts, two of those charts are similar looking,ie, they resemble the shape of a banana lying horizontally across your view; the common theory is that these are one and the same island? my view is that they represent different islands in different seas or oceans. there are also major differences in what has been drawn on them and why it was drawn. one of these charts has the words (reef) drawn at the lower left and lower right as you view it. the lower left has been drawn so as to allow the drawer to code in the words(piece of eight) or similar? also the (L) of lagoon is linked to what appears to to be a river mouth or delta, and indeed becomes a branch of the delta? the picture of the lagoon and the rocks? featured in it take on the formation of an island group? there is such an island group lying off a river delta, i beleive this to be the?

KIDDS SKELETON ISLAND CHART: this chart is featured in a book written by W.T.WILKINS circa 1935 it is shown as a photographic plate. the chart is quite in depth showing outline, mountains, deserts, trees, palm trees,

reefs, wrecks, soundings, compass, latitude in code? anchoring and landing points, it is signed W.K. 1669 and has directions which supposedly show a position of a tree?(not oak island) it has much, much more to numerous to explain unless you have a copy of this chart? if you have a copy you will note that in normal view the lat. is shown as (d.md)? there is no such lat. therefore it must be in code, as the soundings are written in standard numerics? i believe i have broken that code. the compass gives North. West. East and a direction from the south. the west east axis does not cross the north south axis pointer, indeed the compass appears to give a magnetic reading of 1*25 degrees west of north.for the year 1669. the sea or ocean is named as( MAR DEL)? the northern most mountain, the central mountain and the southern most mountain, which vary in size are marked with what appears to be transient points, as if to guide any sea going vessel to a particular spot or anchorage. the normal view of the island appears to be from the west and shows approx 8 mountains running north to south, with one large valley running east to west north of the centre of the island. the highest peak lying just north of the centre of the island, with another peak lying approx 2 miles northward, this peak in turn has a diminishing set of mountains, making up the north side of the valley. the higest peak has varying shape mountains lying southwest of it defining the southern edge to the valley. the signature on the chart is bottom left at normal view. from comparison with kidds known signature the initials on the chart are definitely not his. the words and writing on the chart are not all readable from the normall view, this then gives the impression that the chart can be viewed from more than one direction. consequently when you rotate the chart 90degrees anti clockwise the signature W.K. takes on a new meaning; the (W) now takes on the part profile of a bird on a roost or perch, when you then add what would be the birds (CHEST) you see the complete profile of what could be raven or similar. the (K) or (X) becomes a mountain showing directions north, south, east and west. the message could possibly read "to find the birds chest , go to the highest peak, where you can see the whole island, and take the directions shown from there.

i feel that i may have a logical solution to the island whereabouts, as i have been to an island using my solution to the chart code.

on a certain ocean north or south of the equator sail on a heading of NNW,to a certain latitude, on that latitude you will find an island lying north to south, with the mountains on both ends and the centre marked with transients to lead you in on a set latitude. the latitude fixes you on the exact centre of the valley and north of the highest peak. the island i landed on has the northwest mountain range as shown on the chart, although on any sea chart of my chosen island group there is no mention of them? therefore if the chart is correct and the island the same, then whoever drew it could only of known of there existence by being there? in short the chart and island are very similar in appearance and size ratio, after all the chart shows at least 8 mountains, so small desert isle it is not. the chart shows two types of tree, which happen to be peculiar to my island. i could go on forever but i probably lost your interest way back, therefore i must be totally mad? kind regards kevin kidd.
