there's still something about Skeleton Canyon

Ok...so the part about Monterrey being robbed is officially untrue. But I still think there is some money buried in connection with one of the ambushes that took place within that canyon.
What I haven't seen much of is documents pertaining to the outlaws who lived down there at the time, nor have I seen newspaper accounts reporting any of the ambushes, nor anything official that could pertain to bodies being found there (hence the name "Skeleton Canyon"). The most official subject that anyone could find in that location is the fact that the Apache chief Geronimo surrendered there.
With the exception of Monterrey, the only thing true about the stories so far is the fact that the writer of them was in the area at the time; his description matches the land. What I would like to see is someone getting the facts about Curly Bill, Zwing Hunt, Billy Grounds, etc. Just pour through the old newspapers and post what is found. The stories say that Hunt died of gunshot wounds and was buried on the west side of the Chiricahuas...is his grave in fact at the mouth of one of those canyons? Did a Mexican survive an ambush and kill Old Man Clanton in revenge? What are the records pertaining to the town of Galeyville? It's those little things that has to be fully documented that will give more credibility to the stories. Monterrey may be a done deal, but it is possible that a smaller treasure was taken from a Mexican cattle drive after the cattle was sold.
