For an answer to this puzzling treasure tale read other posts. Under the title "Knights of the Golden Circle", Rebel Treasure, Confederate Underground.. 95% of all the treasure tales circulating in America were planted in the region, where they first surfaced by Confederate Agents from about 1864-1920. The stories were started so that certain areas would become known as treasure sites and be written up in newspapers or become legends. Two books will help you get thru your first reluctance to buy this fact. Read the "Uncommon Denominator", sorry I forget names. Ask on the forum and surely some good TH'er has a copy and can give you the author and perhaps where you can get a copy. Also read "FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE, The Story of the Confederate Undeground (KGC)and their millions in Rebel treasure. You might wonder why someone would bury treasure and then start a story about it being buried in the region--well look at it this way. The ones burying the loot knew they would not live to see it recovered, but someone had to know where it was buried. Since this organization committed little knowledge to written documents, they made oral treasure maps of the sites. This was done so that two or three generations later the Grandkids/GGrandkids who had the keys to the locks (meaning the secret knowledge needed to open the caches)would know where to begin looking for the locks (depositories) I know what you are thinking just now so I'll hush with this...Research the Skeleton canyon thing with this in mind-Who were the Clantons, J. Ringo, Curley Bill,Hunt and the other Cowboys? Ans. Rebels every one and bitter to the end for the outcome of the war... Remember O. K. Corral B...S...The killings there were assassinations not a gunfight.....Why did the Clanton clan wear Red Sashes, identical to the ones worn by the Cowboys in the other famous rangewars? Although Johnny Ringo is not mentioned as a member of Hunt's gang in the story, he was one of the Reb gang. Also interesting to know he was a step-cousin to Jesse and Frank James... Are you beginning to get the picture... Honest Indian
