Ive researched this one for over a decade and nothing in print on this story is very accurate. Ive spent countless hours at every library, ranch, historical society,etc.. and this entire story is so bent out of shape that its no wonder the rock with 2 chiseled crosses has never(?) been found. The Monterrey Myth is just B*S*. Its simple really...the wanna-be's of the Cow-Boy Gang were boldly attacking the Mexican Traders as they crossed the line trying to gain respect from those higher up. There was not one or two pack-train assaults but a large sum of attacks. Literally hundreds of these trader-trains were going in and out of the USA. Afew are now residing at Davis Mountain still waiting to be found.
