Friend MacDonald, Your ignorance of the KGC/Confederate Underground..Please Note (Post War CU) is nothing to be ashamed of. Several of this forum's silent readers were, at one time, unaware of Confederate treasure, now some of those very TH'ers are actually digging up a Rebel cache every now and then! It is absolutely true that after most of the Southern Armies surrendered, thousands of diehard un-reconstructed Rebels organized into a super secret guerilla army and began preying on Yankee finances. The purpose of the organization was twofold. First to harass the Carpetbagger/Scallywag control of the South and secondly to beg, borrow or steal enough gold, silver, jewels, military supplies, arms etc, to restart the Civil war within 50 years or two generations. As early as 1863 the Underground govenment of the Confederacy was already in place and ready to take the reins from the visible Rebel gov. Research proves that if taken far enough.. Take the following for what its worth. I'm just a dumb old desert rat who has paid his dues and is trying to put some of you young educated fellers on the right track to treasure hunting. It could save you many years, lots of dollars and help you find a nestegg. You are already 100 years behind in learning the truth about America's treasures. Another important fact to contemplate is that the old treasure markings, clues and sites are rapidly being desimated by progress. In a few more years there will be little chance of finding the clues that could lead you to wealth. Here is how you can find the proof you seem to require. It is already written in treasure lore so even a person of low mentality, like myself, could sort out the wheat from the chaf. Read between the lines looking for the following: Treasure legends originating between 1863-1926. Treasure stories with a Rebel connection i.e. Skeleton C. Outlaw gang members appearing in one region then another and serving with different companies of KGC. Example John Middleton-with Billy the Kid in NM, with Belle Starr in I.T. with Fisher brothers in AR. His cousin with another band in Texas. John Fisher tied to Jesse James via James Reed, cousin to Cole Younger etc. Check Cole Younger's story about being dispatched on a secret KGC mission to the west at exactly the same time (even to the day) as the legend of the lost Adams diggings made its appearance in exactly the same area where Cole and his company of KGC agents had an Indian fight. Cole and his band were carrying a large amount of gold when attacked and had to leave it to escape......Hummm! Study the story about the Reynold's gang of Colorado.. Compare the story you seem so hooked on about the Skeleton Canyon treasure to Jesse James'Mexican pack train robberies. Some similarity don't you agree? Compare the progression of western outlawry from just after the war until the Wild bunch. That's enough for anyone to get started on. One thing to remember don't pay too much attention to the experts on western outlaws. They have already invested too much in publishing books to ever admit they may not have known the whole truth. Think about it-would you? Most historians get all there information from newspapers, magazines and other printed documents. The KGC were very careful never to let anything get into print-at least in plain context. So, they invented lost treasure tales highly embellished with BS which became legends and only people knowing what to look for in those stories get any useful info. from them.. Note from OI's wife- errors are likely as this was dictated.
