I used one several years ago in the Cayman islands, before the ground balance feature was added. I detected a buried 2" cast iron pipe at eight feet deep. At that time the TM was not too good around the beach or in areas where there was mineralization. If that has been corrected, I would recommend the unit for deep targets.
