Think about this: Poles inserted in to the holes for allowing wheelbarrow or better footing carrying/moving ore? If the poles are covered with wood it would make flooring? Other than that I'm out of ideas without a picture. P.S. Thanks for the praise, I try to be polite and friendly due to a really bad temper.
