Subletts Gold, Could I have found the source???

Well folks, after searching documents and crawling over mountains and vallies since 1968, Could I have found the "Mine" or at least the source of his gold? Befor I get to what I have found, lets recap a bit about what I am looking for.
Ben Sublett had a nack for showing up in Odess Texas with enough gold to keep him and his familly supplied for several mounths. Stories give various amounts bet they all agree that the Gold was a near pure form of nuggets. The only hint from Ben was that the source was in the Guadalupe mountains of west texas. This mountain range runs from about 10 miles south of the Texas New Mexico boarder north aproximatly 100
miles, (depending on who you listen to or which map you look at), and is a very extensive jaged range in spots with other area's being minor slopes. Bens son is the only one that would give us a discription of the opening , being a hole or crevice aproximatly 40 to 80 feet long and aproximatly 40 feet wide, (again depending on which account you go by).
All accounts seam to agree that the opening was about 60 feet deep and the source of the gold came from an opening to one side of this shaft at the bottom. I have collected a lot of stories about this since 1968 and have spent many winter evenings looking them over and studying maps.
Well, last week I went back into an area that has been bugging me for some time. After leaving early and spending 3 hours working my way through washed out roads and blazing trails I finally got to withing a 2 mile walk of where I wanted to go. I spent most of the rest of the mourning scanning the canyon and serounding area with bonoculars and
finally focused on what I was looking for. A lone juniper standing on the side of the mountain. After about 2 hours of working my way accross the canyon and up the other side. Shure enough there it was, an opening under a slight overhang and deep. I moved around the opening cautiosly
to have a better look and be able to drop a small line with a rock on it to check the depth. Af
