Treasure/Cache Hunting
January 08, 2000 at 12:52:36

Is there anyone interested in Treasure Hunting in/near the Petersburg, Virginia area? From what I've read in magzines and other literature, Southern families are said to have buried numerous chaches of valuables on the Southern banks of the Appomattox river here in Petersburg to keep said valuables out of the hands of the approaching Union soldiers at the close of the Civil War(1864/65). So many of the caches were never recovered and await a good deepseeking metal detector. The best time to hunt for these caches would be now, as opposed to the Spring and Summer months. There are too many snakes and poisonous plants down there. I own a Garrett Master Hunter CX detector with a 8.5 and 12.5 searchcoil. I am also interested in dowsing and have had some success. I use a small pendulum for my dowsing instrument and have started to experiement with the angle(L-Rods).

Thank you.
