Hi Marc, I really don't know if everyone calls them by the same name but I have always called a western diamondback a coontail and have found for the most part that they are not aggressive, although there may be individual exceptions and circumstances. The Mohave is a seperate species of rattler, as is the Blacktail. Or at least I think they are Blacktails as I described them to a rattlesnake expert and he thought that is what they are. The Mohave and Blactails are much more lethal as their venom attacks the nervous system much like the cobra. I always use a snake stick when in rocky and brushy areas and it works just fine to keep me safe, But, I have learned to be very carefull. I quit killing them years ago. There is a fella in LosVegas that sells stunguns reasonable and they are suppose to work to save your life by placing several shocks within a few seconds to the bite. I however have never been unfortunate enough to have to use one. Best wishes and safe hunting, French
