Metal detecting in California
January 19, 2000 at 18:58:11

Hello. I am new to metal detecting and am hoping that many of you can share some of your knowledge with me. I live in the Los Angeles area, and have an interest in detecting while I am out in the desert with my telescopes. I figure it will give me something interesting to do while I am waiting for the stars to come out. I go to a state park that is very remote. Do I need special permission to detect in these areas, or is it generally o.k.? How about City beaches or parks. Any general rules for local and state recreational areas? Thanks- alex
