Hi Richard, I just spent the last ten days in the mts along the New Mexico @ Arizona border, around Rodeo and Portal area.I made friends with an old timer there that was raised on a ranch in the Skeleton and Skull canyons. He claims that the Skeleton canyon known today is not the original. He also gave me general locations of interesting caves that he and his father found seventy years ago. One cave is at the eight thousand ft level. Outside this cave they found remnants of what he said was an old cargo wagon. He said that there was no possible way to get the wagon up there , but it was there. His father entered the cave but retreated because the shaft broke away into what he described, like a wind tunnel. His father told him he thought the wagon was one of six carrying gold from Mexico, raided by bandits in Skull canyon. I'm not familiar with this story, do you have any ideas? This guy was eighty years young,a joy to talk to, and sharp as a tack. I'm already planning my next trip back to do some more looking, and visiting with this fine old gentleman. Tracker
