Eric, I don't know if this is your book or not but what you say rings true of the fantastic Golden Horse $500,000 prized contest put out in the Book Treasure by the Blair Corporation, P.O. Box. 4582 W.Blair, NE 68009. (In search of the Golden Horse) Their full color and remarkable graphics sold for $19.95, if I remember correctly. There were videos sold too for $25.
Many people attempted to have a class action suit after the contest closing date May 26, 1989, because Blair refused to tell where the Golden horse was located. I can see why and I was suspicious of this in the first place in 1984. Unless the burial site was private property that welcomed visitors with shovels people could end up in jail or worse. There wasn't enough legal muscle to force them to poney up the true location of the horse and no one won this contest, but Blair made will over seven million dollars selling these books.
Aside from this, if this is the book you seek, the book was just worderful and I spent far too much money and time pursuing the Golden Horse myself. I still dream of Amanda great search for her lost horse and he father. The contest was a brilliant idea exicuted, but it failed to default I am very sorry to have to admit. It was such a terrible let down for so many thousands of Golden Horse searchers.
I hope this was some of the information you asked for Eric.
