Snuffy Smith deceased
March 15, 2001 at 20:32:23

Well friends another of the old timers has dug his last loot. I feel I owe it to him to write a short obituary. Robert L. (Bob) Smith, known to most as Snuffy Smith, died in Granbury TX a couple of weeks ago. Bob was an old Marine who hit the beach at Tarawa in WWII. I think his best find was the legendary Scrounge Out School Treasure down on the Cossatot River east of Wickes, Arkansas. He and Apache Jim Wilson hunted together back in the 1980s. I hooked up with him about that same time. He knew a lot but told very little. He sure was tough competition and plucked several that I know of. Say a prayer for old Snuffy and remember that soon we all will meet him where gold is so plentiful it won't excite us anymore. Our prayers go out to Betty.... Hillbilly
