Once again, I must say, thanks! Bill, this is my first time to post anything on the net in a forum and already I have three nice replies. I will also be looking for this book at the library. I am definately planning a summer or early fall trip to the City of Rocks park. I have an older camper van which I think will serve my purposes nicely. I plan to do some hiking and would like to talk to the park officials and maybe someone in the nearby communities who might know some of the older local history. I believe that senior citizens are wonderful people and many times have so much to tell us; its unfortunate that my generation doesn't normally see the benefit in listening to the older people. Anyways, my camera will be a constant companion, and I have a wonderful digital voice recorder for interesting conversations. If I don't find these books available in my library, I will look on the internet. There is a nice used and new bookstore (very large) in Portland that has probably one of everything you've ever wanted. I've used it for some other books. Some personal favorites are books by Horatio Alger JR. but thats getting off topic. Anyways, I am much obliged to you for this info and thank you again. oh yes, Bill, sounds like you have camped in C. of Rocks. Got any tips on things to see and do other than hiking and watching the rock climbers? I really enjoy the outdoors and am a camper to. (from the canvas tent old school!) Thanks again. Russ(Doc).
