I have in my treasure library two references that cover the Spider Rock story near Clyde in 1900:

1. "Money in The Ground" by Ed Bartholomew (pen name for Jesse Rascoe), 1974. Ed has 3 pages covering this teasure story. Ed/Jesse did a good amount of reasearch on his stories and the content is fairly good.

2. "A Guide to Treasure in Texas" by Thomas Penfield, 1972. Thomas has roughly 2 pages in his book on Spider Rock.

It is interesting to note that there are identical stories of a Spider Rock that involve a man named Dave Arnold - one in Callahan County in 1900 and another in Stonewall County in 1907/1908. This seems to raise the issue of a scam being run by Arnold.

This material is too long to post. If you email me your mailing address, I will be glad to send you a copy of the pages out of these references. Good luck with the research.

Roger
