Mark, it sounds like your going to sell your metal detector?
I have found that it is the dreams that keep people going. I have plans of the big recovery, but for me it took years of work and research before the plans for diggin comes around. It means poring lots of money into legal permission and Geophysical scans that prove what your hard work was all about, to see if there is gold there or a family of ground hogs.
I don't need to read what wanna bees write books about lost Treasure. For me, I find it very interesting to fascinating to read old accounts of the Spanish activities.
The Spanish were smart and they meticulously filled are replanted their galera vaults when this gold could not legally go back to Spain. The records are full of these Spanish activities--Spider Rocks Texas, the San Juans of Colorado, the southern California Lost Padre Mine to name a few sites that remain un-recovered.
Then you have the bandits and smaller robbery caches. There is plenty to do, but you have to get real information from real references. Some of the posters on this web are excellent researchers. Ask one of them to assist you in getting good leads or sites to work on if you haven't burned them with your remarks.
Do not assume that everyone that write books are losers. There are numerous reasons why Treasure can not be recovered. Read about Sir Francis Drake's 72 tons of silver and his secret code in www.About.com
Most of the time the worms get the gold and there is a very good reason for that.
If you seek answers for yourself rather then looking at what others are doing or asking what others are finding to justify getting off of your chair, you may have a happier time in the field.
If there was an easy way to recovery Treasure all of the large cities would be ghost towns because everyone would be digging up gold. But fortunately for the hard working Treasure Hunters, recovering Treasure is a bear, that is why it is there to be recovered.
Look at Mel fisher. Do you think he was just some dumb dude that triped over millions by accident? Not hardly. He and his crew worked hard for it from this opportunity from investors, and I am happy to report that he earned every penny of Treasure that he was allowed to keep by law. This will possibly be your legacy too Mark, if you put our guts behind your dreams.
You don't honestly feel someone in cybervile will show you the treasure they found do you? Why would they do such a thing? What would be the draw? You will hear many things. But what is more important is what you experience for yourself after you have done the very best you can at it. Anything short of this is not real data.
A sail boat in a strong wind fairs far better than it does in a dead calm.
