Let's take it a step further. Caches, right? Coins or large caches? If looking for smaller caches, find out where the old trading posts/stage stations were located. Check the surrounding areas with your metal detector for where people stached their money during an Indian raid. How about checking out some of the areas where there were fire fights between Indians and stage coaches? If you want to try and run down old storys, first weigh them against common sense. If you were being chased by a posse or a hostile band of Indians, would you stop and dig a 3 foot hole? How about putting it inside a premade hole? Badger hole, skunk den, ect. Put it up against the side of a wash and colapse the bank over it. Most of the storys that you will find, has them hiding it until they can come back for it. Put yourself in those conditions that the story calls for. What would you do? Start there and then expand on it. That is the best I can give you on generalites. Good Luck, and remember, keep your mouth shut. Regards Marc
