Jim, if you happen to be referring to the mine with the Iron door in Southern California. Larry Williams of the Old THC was invited to visit this discovery about 10 years ago. I don't know if he went or not, but two small gold bars were found in this cache. Perhaps, there were more gold bars there originally? I would hope so. Legends sure do grow out of proportion, don't they?

There are so many mines with the Iron door legends in the old days. It just made good sense to use iron over wood, If you could find iron and haul it, it made for a more secure seal.

Perhaps you can let us know which state you had in mind for your mine with the Iron Door? Richard
