The coal companys have drilled holes all over East Texas looking for coal deposits. They never tell the owner the results. Sometimes you can find coal in the drill cores left on top of the ground. Perhaps this is not related but could it be test holes looking for junderground tunnels? They set of a blast and record the shock waves. Same as the oil companies.
