gold in texas
June 10, 2001 at 14:21:42

Has anyone any info about the texas devil's backbone gold find approximately 15-20 years ago located on the 7 11 ranch. my friend's brother used to work that ranch and went to a remote part with a hispanic worker, there they found old mining equipment and a couple of pieces of gold..geologists were called in, it was determined that the gold was micron(imbedded) in the rock and would be difficult to mine..it was quite a huge find. the family held onto the land as they had some treaty or deed that dated way back that they were able to somehow hold up in court. i know this is not about treasure hunting exactly but it does say that there is gold in texas. i will someday research this in the archives of the local newspaper in canyon lake texas......
