Thank you very much for your response. I recently purchased an 1838 first hand account of this disaster, type script and bound. It is a very poignant recollection. I surmised that a boiler had blown because the female survivor describes passing a room and seeing a negro man on his knees crying for help and saying that his feet had been burned off. Again....thank you
