The Bark Cavalier

July 07, 1999 at 20:49:51

I have a question on an item i recently purchased. the scrimshaw reads "The Bark Cavalier of New Bedford" In my search for what I thought was a ship I've since learned that a bark is a different kind of vessel, I think. Can you please tell me what a "Bark" is. Also have you ever heard of the bark cavalier of new bedford. Any and all info appreciated.

Thank you

sue
