......Thanks, for your statement <<For a long time I've known YOU found Hunley.>> I need all of the public endorsements of my discovery of the Hunley that I can get. ......In an email to me, you wrote <<Even though you found Hunley, Clive is a better writer (of fiction). Maybe a better media show person, too.>> ......I agree with you about those aspects of Cussler. He is undoubtedly better at fiction than I am. And I believe he is far better at PR, showmanship and handling the media. So, I assume we are in complete agreement. ......As to Cussler's ability to handle the media, he even brags about it in one of his books. ......I would also like to point out that despite the fact that Cussler was not the director of the expedition (underwater archaeologist Mark Newell was the official director, and Dr. Newell says he used my maps and data to direct the search and locate the Hunley), and despite the fact that Cussler was not aboard the search boat when the expedition divers first uncovered the Hunley, and despite the fact that Cussler never dove on it a single time, and despite the fact that he publicly lied about the location (the real location matched mine too closely for anyone knowing the truth to have ignored that fact) for approximately a year, most of the media has reported that Cussler discovered the Hunley. ......Thanks again, Lee |
