Dig here ??

Hi Guys , well I'm back from my 5 day trip from northland New Zealand and we have some great MAG readings . We have one very large signal with 5 smaller signals in a area of 50 x 20 meters. It could be one of the cannons we are after with the smaller readings being the cannon balls. You can stand on the site at low tide and we going to bring in a digger during this low tide . The problem is that unlike a metal detector I'm told that you can't say for sure that where the cross is in the sand is the exact spot to dig. I'm also told that the objects are about 3-4 meters deep. Due to the site being above the low tide mark why type of probe should I use and is there any plans to go by. This is to save time on the site before the digger turns up. HMMMM... after all we might dig up a old 4x4 engine and wheel rims but WHO KNOWS !!
Kiwi Nick .
PS. For the powers that be . IT'S JUST A TEST HOLE , TO SEE WHAT WE HAVE , THATS ALL.
