In the late '90s, a Venezuelan corporation received a permit to search, recover, conserve and divide artifacts found at Aves.
Similar to the salvage of the 'Capitana'(1654) off Ecuador in the same time period (late '90s), my boat, the R/V Explorer, was the primary search and recovery vessel employed.
The arch. involved in both projects was John de Bry.
