XLT tweeking in other states

I'm headed to Tenn. and Indiana this summer, what do i have to do to set my detector, what programs should i start with, then what do i do next... which settings do i change..

Tell me about the D.C. phase.. should i work with that to find my settings???

Any good info. would be very helpful..
