silver at an old homesite

May 06, 1998 at 10:58:27

This passed weekend I got permission to hunt an old homesite for coins. The house was built in the early 1840's but yet the earliest silver coin I found was a 1936 merc, along with a 1942D and a 1943. I didn't even pull out a barber. It was still a good hunt but I would greatly appreciate any input as to why I found the new silver and not the old.
